The status meeting is doing the reporting system's job
When the record lives across four tools, the only way to find out where things stand is to ask four people. So there is a meeting, the meeting produces a slide, and the slide is accurate for about a day.
The meeting is not the cost. The cost is the decisions waiting for it: a supplier not switched, a drop not moved, because the thing that would settle it arrives on a schedule rather than on demand.
